Waikato Food Show Wrap-Up

15 July 2025

Last weekend, we packed up the pastry and hit Claudelands for the Waikato Food Show, and what a weekend it was! This year’s event was the biggest and best yet, and we were proud to be part of the action once again as sponsors of the Masterclass Hub.

Our Head Baker, Ryan Simmons, led a crowd-favourite Masterclass on how to make Mille Feuille on both Saturday and Sunday, joined by Volare Pastry Chef Hema Matene. He also teamed up with Satinder Singh in the Heathcotes Arena to demo a no-knead sourdough – complete with live questions and even a helper from the audience. The energy from the crowd was unbeatable.

Our retail team was on the ground too, serving up freshly baked Volare goods and hot cups of Ozone coffee. A big thanks to Ozone for supplying the beans and keeping everyone caffeinated. It was great to meet so many new faces (and spot a few familiar ones too) enjoying the day out with whānau.

We were in good company alongside some amazing local producers, including Good Bugs (whose sauerkraut you’ll find in our Reuben sandwich), What The Food (stocked in all our stores), and Kaimai Eggs – also known as Otto’s Eggs – who supply every single egg in our bakery, including the ones topping our limited edition Lemon Meringue Cronut (read more in our Project Local with Otto’s Eggs).

Thanks to the event organisers for putting on another incredible show — and to everyone who stopped by to say hi.
