Volare Video Series: The Early Days

What started in a Hamilton garage with two mates and a whole lot of hustle has grown into one of New Zealand’s most loved artisan bakeries.

We’ve come a long way since those early mornings and all-nighters – when Ryan was baking through the night, Ed was out on deliveries by dawn, and most of our business meetings happened over the phone at 5am. But some things haven’t changed.

Co-founders Ed and Ryan are still on the floor every day, sixteen years on. They still care deeply about the product, the people behind it, and the customers who keep us going. Volare’s story is one of Kiwi ingenuity, fifth-generation baking, and a whole lot of Waikato heart. And if you ask us, it’s the people – our staff, suppliers, and incredibly loyal customers – who’ve made Volare what it is today. We’re humbled by that, and we don’t take it for granted.

This video marks the start of a new series, where we take you behind the bench to show you more of who we are, how we bake, and what keeps us coming back, year after year.
