Stockist Feature: Fav Parnell

At first glance, Fav Parnell looks like your typical neighbourhood dairy, complete with the familiar door chime reminiscent of childhood trips to buy lollies. But step inside this understated fruit and vegetable store and you'll discover something quite special.

We were warmly greeted by owner Jignesh Amin, whose enthusiasm for good food is obvious. The shelves were neatly stacked with gourmet delights, from European cheeses and cured meats to locally made artisan products, smoked salmon, fruit cake and quality chocolates. Add an impressive selection of seasonal fruit, vegetables and hard-to-find ingredients, fresh flowers, and it's a feast for the eyes.Having started his career as a pastry chef in Australia, Jignesh went on to work alongside his brother-in-law before settling into the business he's now been part of for 18 years.

There's a real sense of community here. As we chat, regulars pop in to pick up their essentials, exchanging familiar greetings with Jignesh. Mornings are typically the busiest, with afternoons offering a quieter pace."

It's this understanding of his customers that shapes the carefully considered selection at Fav. Whether it's a particular cheese, something special for a platter or an ingredient that's hard to find elsewhere, Jignesh takes pride in offering options and helping customers discover something new.

Among the shelves is a selection of Volare bread and pastries, which Jignesh is particularly enthusiastic about. He loves sharing the story behind the products and values the consistency of the range.

"Everyone loves your pastries," he tells us, singling out the Cherry Cheesecake Danish as a favourite.

Right on cue, a customer picking up a loaf of Volare joins the conversation."This is the best bread, so good. I get a good week out of that.

"For Jignesh, it's all about building trust through good food, quality products and genuine service.

And judging by the steady stream of familiar faces, he's got that part figured out.
