Our Place: Cambridge
06 November 2025
In the middle of Victoria Street, among the boutiques and market-day buzz, you’ll find Volare Cambridge – a bright corner spot serving Ozone Coffee, fresh pastries, and still-warm sourdough.
It’s small but full of energy. Locals drift in early for coffee and a loaf to take home, and by mid-morning the counter’s lined with regulars ordering “the usual.” There’s music playing, the smell of butter and espresso in the air, and a few familiar laughs coming from behind the machine.
Manager Nicola Wilson calls it “an upbeat little hotspot – cozy, but never sleepy.” The team moves around each other with quiet rhythm – pouring shots, bagging loaves, trading jokes. “Everyone knows their role,” she says. “And probably sings more than they should before 9am.”
Mornings start slow, then roll into a steady hum. The shelves fill with San Fran and Pain au Levain, and the cabinet stacks up with sandwiches and slices. Nicola’s pick: the Chimichurri Chicken Fold – “I don’t usually like spice, but that one’s unreal. The bread’s just so good.”
By lunchtime, the room’s full – locals, office workers, families with prams. The chatter softens as the afternoon slows, but there’s always a familiar face dropping in for a top-up or a loaf for dinner. “It’s genuine,” Nicola says. “People come here because it feels good. We know their names, their orders, sometimes their kids. It’s part of the rhythm of the town now.”
Volare Cambridge isn’t trying to be anything fancy – it’s just the kind of bakery every town hopes for. Consistent, welcoming, and always smelling like fresh bread.
