Behind The Counter: Kelly Berryman
21 April 2026
If you have spent time at our Main Bakery store, there is a good chance Kelly has served you a coffee, handed over your pie, or convinced you to add something sweet to your order.
Kelly is one of those people who can chat to just about anyone. She is quick with a recommendation, always up for a laugh and somehow still keeps things moving when the line is out the door.
We asked her a few questions about life at our Gallagher Drive Store.
What do you love about the Main Bakery store?
It is the one-stop shop that has everything you need to start the day right. Amazing coffee, a loaf of bread and a cheeky little sweet treat. You cannot ask for much more than that.
Who is coming through the door most days?
We get such a mix. Tradies, local businesses like Gallagher and the DHB, families, tourists. Everyone comes in to try what is probably Waikato's favourite food spot.
Favourite part of the day?
Definitely the first hour before we open. I have the music blasting, I have already had my first coffee and I am setting up the cabinets and shelves ready for a busy day.
Go-to order right now?
A Spinach & Feta Quiche with an Iced Americano.
How would you describe the team?
Easy going. But if you tell us you are watching MAFS, you will have us talking for hours.
Something people would not know happens behind the counter?
We often have a friendly competition running between stores to see who can raise the most money with sales of our limited edition ANZAC Cookies. So come support the Main Bakery team and help us win.
What makes the Waikato special to you?
It is home. I am Waikato born and raised. Even though I love travelling and getting away, I always know I will come back here.
Favourite getaway?
Heading to the beach any chance I get. My car is already packed with a blanket and a book ready to go.
